Founded in 2015 in Brussels, Wooclap is an EdTech startup which helps to engage students and learners as active participants in their learning. After a 3-digit growth in 2019, the opening of an office in Paris and strong international expansion, the team intends to continue this momentum in 2020.

Thanks to our web platform of interactive questions, which students answer in real time via their smartphone, more than 300,000 teachers around the world make their courses more active, more efficient and more adapted to their students' expectations. Our user base includes higher education teachers as well as corporate trainers.

The success of our product is due to its ease of use and the partnerships we have forged with professors, researchers and cognitive science specialists that allow us to create features that are as close as possible to the needs of our users.

In 2020, Wooclap continues to innovate and launched Wooflash, a study platform for students based on spaced repetition and artificial intelligence.

Job Description

As a data scientist, you’re at the origin of our next product features. You’ll work hand-in-hand with the product manager and the developers. Our sector moves fast, and so do we: we remain on the cutting edge.

Your main duties would include:

  • Ideate, prototype, fail and refine statistical and machine learning models
  • Plug & Play with diverse data sources
  • Come up with deployable analytical models, using cutting edge technologies to deliver state-of-the-art results
  • Run ad-hoc analysis for our clients who want to benefit from our databases, and make the results easy to understand while extracting actionable insights

Preferred Experience

Is it you we’re looking for?

Your profile:

  • You have a masters degree and/or relevant experiences in data analytics.
  • You speak English fluently (mandatory) and French (optional).
  • You love hacking data and algorithms.
  • You master R and/or Python and their data-oriented libraries: pandas, numpy, sklearn, dplyr, ggplot2.
  • You have a good knowledge of SQL.
  • You have a solid understanding of statistics and machine learning techniques.
  • You have a learning mindset & cutting-edge technologies curiosity.

Ideally, you’ll have:

  • Experience with NoSQL databases, dashboard development tools (shiny, dash), working with REST APIs.
  • Experience interacting with non-technical profiles (product managers/designers, sales/marketing teams, clients, …).
  • Git and software engineering.
