Job Description

As our first in-house Legal & Compliance Counsel, you will build and own Wooclap’s legal function from the ground up. You will be the go-to person for all contractual, compliance, and regulatory matters, working hand in hand with Sales, Finance, Security, and Leadership. You will also be the primary interface with our external counsel and DPO (KaizenLaw). Discretion and confidentiality are non-negotiable: you will handle sensitive business, contractual, and personal data, and are expected to maintain the highest level of integrity at all times.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contract Management

Protect Wooclap's interests across all commercial relationships by reviewing, negotiating, and redlining client and supplier contracts in collaboration with internal stakeholders and external law firms.

Give Management and Business team full visibility on contractual commitments through a contract management tool tracking all agreements and derogations.

Ensure consistency and legal robustness of Wooclap's standard documents (Subscriber Agreement, T&C, SLA, DPA, Privacy Policy) as the company scales.

  • Privacy & Regulatory Compliance

Keep Wooclap fully compliant on GDPR day-to-day: DPAs, data subject requests, and record of processing activities, in coordination with our external DPO.

Anticipate regulatory exposure by monitoring and advising on AI Act, DSA, and sector-specific requirements.

Accelerate deals and partnerships by owning security questionnaire responses and building an internal knowledge base of standard answers.

Contribute to maintaining Wooclap's ISO 27001 certification in close collaboration with the security team.

  • Business & Commercial Support

Reduce legal friction on deals by joining client calls directly and resolving contractual questions in real time.

Enable informed decision-making by advising Management and Business team on deal structure, liability, and risk.

Preferred Experience

  • 5 to 7 years of experience in a law firm or in-house legal role, ideally in B2B SaaS, tech, or a fast-scaling company

  • Strong command of commercial contract law and data protection regulations (GDPR)

  • Comfortable operating across multiple jurisdictions (Europe / North America)

  • Fluent in French and English

  • Highly rigorous and detail-oriented, with clean documentation habits and reliable follow-through on all legal matters

  • Autonomous, pragmatic, and business-oriented: you find solutions, not problems

  • Experience with ISO 27001 / information security compliance is a plus

Bonus Points If You…

  • Have drafted or negotiated agreements from scratch

  • Have experience with international expansion (North America in particular)

  • Are comfortable advising non-legal stakeholders directly
